Catalog Editing

Catalog data can be modified in three ways: via a spreadsheet, via public databases such as Salsify, and directly in-app. Customers with API access may also stream catalog data directly to GoPlanogram via the API.

This page describes each of the processes for modifying catalog data.

Spreadsheets

The most common way to load a catalog into GoPlanogram is via an XLSX spreadsheet, which must be in GoPlanogram's required format. We recommend downloading our template, which contains all pre-supported data in the column headers, then populating it with your own data.

To upload a spreadsheet in the Admin → Catalogs page, select grid_on Update via Files, and choose a correctly formatted XLSX spreadsheet from your local computer. You then have two options: published_with_changes Replace the catalog's contents, or add_box Add to the catalog's contents.

If the spreadsheet contains new Custom Data (#) fields or Account (AcctID_) fields, as long as you have available Custom Data / Account slots, these will be created dynamically.

Replace via Spreadsheet

Using the Replace button to upload your spreadsheet replaces the entire catalog with the contents of the uploaded file.

Warning: Catalog replacement cannot be undone. Make sure you coordinate with other site admins to ensure you do not overwrite the same data.

Add via Spreadsheet

Using the Add button to upload your spreadsheet adds the items in the spreadsheet to the current catalog.

The Overwrite Duplicate Items option determines whether items with the same item_id as an item that already exists in your catalog will be overwritten or ignored.

Delete via Spreadsheet

To remove a specified set of items from your catalog, you can use the delete Delete via XLSX tab.

To use this option, upload a spreadsheet with a single item_id column that contains a list of Item IDs to remove from the catalog.

Public Databases

GoPlanogram integrates with third-party products databases that you may use to source product data (pictures, dimensions, etc...) from, if you are using common brands and the SKU's you need are part of these databases.

The currently supported database is the Salsify Open Catalog. Other databases may be included in the future.

To search public databases from the Admin → Catalogs page, select travel_explore Update via Public Database. You can use the Text option to search specific keywords or GTINs, or the File option to upload a file containing GTINs, separated by commas.

Click on search Search Database(s) to find matching products.

Select one or more items by clicking on their rows in the table, or all items via Select All. You can then add the selected items to your catalog by clicking Add Selected.

Select items from the queried database to add to your catalog.

If you are using a spreadsheet to store your catalog data, it is often a good idea to download and re-upload your spreadsheet after adding items from public databases, to ensure that the items are included in your catalog in the future.

In-App

You can directly edit and delete items in your catalog from the search View Content tab of the Admin → Catalogs page. To do so, use the Edit button, which will open a dialog containing all of the properties of the selected item:

Dialog for editing an individual catalog item.

You can modify any item properties from this dialog, as well as modify custom data fields and facing images.

If you are using a spreadsheet to store your catalog data, it is often a good idea to download and re-upload your spreadsheet after modifying an item in-app, to ensure that your catalog spreadsheet remains in sync with your changes.

API

For customers with API access, GoPlanogram allows you to create, and modify catalogs directly via the API. See the API documentation for more details.

API access is not enabled for GoPlanogram sites by default. To obtain access, contact sales@goplanogram.com.
