Smart POG

Smart POG is an assistant built into GoPlanogram. Type what you want in plain words, like "Which products sell the least?" or "Fill the first bay with snacks," and Smart POG does the work in your open planogram.

Smart POG is part of the GoPlanogram Standard package. To add it, contact sales at [email protected].

Opening Smart POG

Navigate to View → Smart POG. The Smart POG panel opens on the left side of the screen. Type your request in the box at the bottom and press Enter (or click the button).

If you're not sure where to start, click one of the example buttons shown in an empty panel.

The Smart POG panel

Smart POG works on planograms. With a Store Plan open, it can only answer questions about how GoPlanogram works.

What Smart POG Can Do

Analyze Your Plan

Ask Smart POG a question about your plan and it will find the answer. It can also show you the answer right on the plan:

  • Numbers and tables, such as "How is shelf space split between categories?" These open in the Insights panel.
  • Heatmaps, such as "Show me a heatmap of weekly sales." These color your plan like any other Heatmap.
  • Highlights, such as "Highlight the products with no price." These color just the products you asked about.

Analyzing never changes your plan. Smart POG can also look through your catalog for products that aren't on the plan yet, such as "Find drinks under $2 that could replace the slow sellers."

Edit Products

Smart POG can change the products already on your plan. Describe the change, and it finds the right Positions and edits them for you. It can:

  • Replace a product with a different one, in the same spot. For example, "Replace the 12oz cola with the 20oz cola."
  • Remove products. For example, "Remove everything that sold less than 5 units last week."
  • Add a product to the left or right of another. For example, "Put the 12-pack beside every 6-pack."
  • Change facings, orientation, or rotation. For example, "Give the top 10 sellers 3 facings each," or "Turn all the cereal boxes to show their side."

You can make one change across the whole plan, or limit it to one bay or shelf, like "Double the facings of the water on shelf 2 of bay 1." Facings can even follow your data, such as "Set facings to weekly sales divided by 4."

You can ask for several changes at once. They all arrive together, so you review them in one step.

Fill Fixtures

Smart POG can lay out products for you. Tell it which products to use and where to put them, and it places them automatically using Auto Fill. For example:

  • "Fill the first bay with the largest category, ranked by price"
  • "Split the top two shelves between chips and crackers"
  • "Refill bay 3 with only items over 30% margin, up to 3 facings each"

Filling a fixture replaces what is already on it. Products that don't fit are left out.

Smart POG won't keep any edit or fill until you approve it. See Reviewing Changes below.

Answer How-To Questions

You can also ask Smart POG how to do something in GoPlanogram, like "How do I export my plan as a PDF?" It answers from this documentation and links to the pages it used.

Saving Heatmaps and Insights

Heatmaps and Insights made by Smart POG are not saved at first. While unsaved, the Heatmaps or Insights panel shows an Unsaved bar with two buttons:

  • Save keeps it, so you can use it again later.
  • Discard throws it away.

Saved Heatmaps and Insights are only visible to you.

Highlights can't be saved. To remove one, clear it from the View Options panel.

Reviewing Changes

When Smart POG changes your plan, it shows you the change and waits. A review box appears at the bottom of the Smart POG panel, listing the change and how many products were added, removed, changed, and moved.

Reviewing a change from Smart POG

While the box is open, your plan is colored to show what changed:

  • Green products were added.
  • Blue products were changed, such as a new number of facings.

Removed and moved products are counted in the review box, but not colored. Use the Highlight changes switch to turn the colors off and on. Only Smart POG's change is colored, never your own edits.

When you're done looking, choose one:

  • Apply keeps the change.
  • Reject undoes the change.

You can type a note before clicking either button, like "Too many facings of the small items." Smart POG reads it and can try again.

Your plan can't be edited or saved until you click Apply or Reject.

Apply does not save your plan. Save it as usual when you're happy with it. You can still undo an applied change later, just like any other edit.

Usage Limits

Each site has a weekly Smart POG allowance, which resets every Monday. Click the button at the top of the panel to see how much has been used this week.
