Where GoPlanogram fits

Four things that tend to decide the evaluation.

For suppliers, brands, and retailers

Most planogram software is built for one side of the table, and everyone else adapts a tool shaped for someone else. GoPlanogram covers both: suppliers and brands building a tailored planogram per retailer with the data to prove it will sell, and retailers running assortment and space changes across many planograms at once. Same workspace, same catalog, same reports.

Configurable, not opinionated

Fixtures are deeply customizable: shelves, bars, hooks and many more, each with their own dimensions and behavior. We accept any performance fields, so sales, inventory, margin, or any custom metric can be used. Reports and calculations are yours to shape. GoPlanogram fits CPG, pet, hardware, c-store, auto parts, and categories nobody else thinks about.

See what it can do

Reads and writes the files you already have

Import JDA / Blue Yonder PSA files directly, including the catalog data and per-item performance records they carry. One file can hold many planograms. Export back to PSA when a retail partner requires it, so switching does not strand your work.

No rollout, exceptional support

GoPlanogram runs in the browser. There is nothing to download, deploy, or patch, no per-machine licensing. Support is included with every package and answered by the same developers who write the software. Northwoods Software is 100% employee owned.

Tool by tool

What each one is strong at, what we would test if we were you, and why brands and suppliers move to GoPlanogram.

GoPlanogram as a Blue Yonder (JDA) alternative

Blue Yonder, formerly JDA, Intactix

Where Blue Yonder is strong
You are a large retailer already standardized on Blue Yonder for category management, and space planning is one workflow inside a much bigger supply chain program. Blue Yonder created the PSA file format that the rest of the industry reads and writes, and its space planning lineage goes back further than almost anyone else in the category.
What to compare closely
How the license is sized and priced for your actual team, what the rollout and training commitment looks like, and how much of the day-to-day work still happens in an installed client versus a browser. If you are a supplier rather than a retailer, check whether you are buying capability you will use or a platform sized for someone else.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
Suppliers who only need to build, prove, and send planograms usually do not need a supply chain platform to do it. GoPlanogram reads the PSA files you already have, including their catalog and performance records, runs entirely in a browser, and publishes its pricing. You keep working in the same file format your retail partners expect.

GoPlanogram as a RELEX alternative

Where RELEX Solutions is strong
You are a retailer who wants forecasting, replenishment, assortment, and space decisions to inform each other inside one platform, and you have store-specific planograms to generate at chain scale. That connected planning story is the whole point of RELEX, and space planning on its own is not really what it is sold to do.
What to compare closely
Whether you are buying space planning or buying a platform. If planogramming is the only piece you need, look at what the surrounding modules add for you, what the implementation timeline is, and what the agreement commits you to beyond the first year.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram is a focused planogram tool rather than a merchandising platform. There is no implementation program: you sign in, import your catalog and existing planograms, and start building. Pricing is published, packages start at $5,500 per year, and support comes from the engineers who build the software.

GoPlanogram as a DotActiv alternative

Where DotActiv is strong
You want category management software backed by a team that will do category work with you, and you like knowing the price before you talk to anyone. DotActiv publishes tiered pricing including a free tier, which is genuinely rare in this market, and the services side is a real differentiator if your team is thin on category expertise.
What to compare closely
How the tiers scale as your catalog and team grow, what each tier caps, and whether a per-seat installed license suits a distributed team on mixed hardware. Also compare how each tool handles maintaining a separate planogram and catalog per retailer without duplicating the work.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install, license per machine, or keep patched. Every package includes unlimited planograms, unlimited catalog size, and support, and the Standard package covers five users at $5,500 per year rather than pricing each seat separately.

GoPlanogram as a Nexgen POG alternative

Where Nexgen POG is strong
Your requirement is genuinely simple and price is the deciding factor. Nexgen POG is cloud based, publishes low annual pricing, and gets a small team building planograms quickly without a procurement cycle. If that is the job, it is a reasonable answer.
What to compare closely
The parts of the evaluation that decide whether a planogram wins a line review rather than just gets built: how deeply you can bind your own sales, margin, and inventory data to a planogram, how analysis and reporting come out the other side, how many catalogs you can keep for different retailers, and whether there is API access to automate any of it.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram is built for the pitch, not just the layout. Bind store data to any planogram, overlay sales and margin as heatmaps, run space-to-sales breakdowns, compare versions side by side, and export the whole thing as a report a buyer can act on. Projects let you report on and swap SKUs across many planograms at once.

GoPlanogram as a Quant alternative

Where Quant Retail is strong
You operate stores. Quant ties planograms to the rest of store operations, including floor plans, tasks, shelf labels, and photo documentation, and its per-store licensing with unlimited users encourages everyone in the chain to participate. For a retailer, that shape of pricing is a real advantage.
What to compare closely
Whether the licensing model matches your business. Per-store pricing is well suited to a chain and awkward for a supplier who operates no stores, so check what you would actually be counted on. Also compare the supplier-side workflow: producing a retailer-ready planogram and handing it to a buyer who does not use your software.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram is priced for teams, not store counts, and is built around the supplier workflow of building a planogram, proving it with data, and sending it to a buyer as a PDF, spreadsheet, image, or PSA file that opens with nothing installed.

GoPlanogram as an IWD alternative

Where IWD is strong
You are a fashion, beauty, or luxury brand distributing visual merchandising guidelines to your own stores and tracking whether they were executed. IWD is built around campaigns, guidelines, and store execution, and that is a different discipline from shelf space planning, done well.
What to compare closely
Which problem you are actually solving. If you need SKU-level shelf planning with real product dimensions, facings, capacity, and PSA interchange with grocery, mass, or hardware retailers, that is space planning. If you need brand-consistent display guidance across your own stores, that is visual merchandising. Some teams need both, and they are rarely one product.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram is shelf-level space planning: dimensioned products, fixtures, facings, and capacity, with 2D and realtime 3D views and PSA import and export for the retail partners who require it.

GoPlanogram as a Scorpion Planogram alternative

Where Scorpion Planogram is strong
You want shelf design, 3D viewing, store plans, and assortment in one suite with a lighter footprint than the enterprise platforms, and you value a vendor with deep roots in the Australian and New Zealand market.
What to compare closely
How it is delivered and licensed, since quote-only pricing makes budgeting harder to do up front, and whether an installed suite suits a team that works across offices, laptops, and time zones.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram runs in any browser with nothing to install or update, publishes its pricing, and includes support with every package. Collaboration happens on the live planogram rather than by passing files around.

GoPlanogram as an EZPOG alternative

EZPOG, Vision Group Retail

Where EZPOG is strong
You want a simple, inexpensive, browser-based planogram builder and you like that the license price is published rather than quoted. For a small team that needs clean shelf sets and nothing more, it does the job without a sales process.
What to compare closely
How per-license pricing adds up once more than a couple of people need access, what happens as your catalog grows, and how far the analysis goes when you need to justify a space change with your own sales data rather than illustrate a layout.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram includes five users, unlimited planograms, and unlimited catalog size in the $5,500 per year Standard package, adds store data binding, heatmaps, space-to-sales analysis, and version comparison, and imports and exports PSA files both directions.

GoPlanogram as a Spaceman alternative

Spaceman, NielsenIQ

Where Spaceman is strong
It is one of the longest-standing names in CPG-to-retailer category management, and if your retail partners already work in Spaceman, that shared vocabulary and file continuity counts for something on its own.
What to compare closely
How the product is delivered and licensed today. The suite has moved across owners and platforms over the years, so ask specifically which pieces run in a browser, which still need an install, and what a seat costs for a team your size.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram is one browser-based tool with published pricing and nothing to install, and it reads and writes PSA files, so you can keep exchanging planograms with partners working in any of the established suites.

GoPlanogram as a Shelf Logic alternative

Where Shelf Logic is strong
You need planograms occasionally rather than continuously, and you would rather buy a desktop license outright than carry a subscription. Shelf Logic publishes its prices, sells the editor as a one-time purchase, and has been doing this a long time.
What to compare closely
What the annual renewal covers against the one-time price, whether a Windows-only editor suits how your team is set up, and what sharing and collaboration look like when the editing seats live on individual desktops.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
If planograms are a recurring part of how you sell rather than an occasional task, a browser-based subscription that includes support, unlimited planograms, unlimited catalog size, and PSA interchange usually costs less in total than maintaining desktop licenses and coordinating by hand.

GoPlanogram as a SmartDraw alternative

Where SmartDraw is strong
You need to draw a lot of different things and a planogram is only one of them. SmartDraw covers dozens of diagram types from one subscription, publishes per-user pricing, and ships ready-made retail symbols, so a rough shelf layout for a deck is quick work.
What to compare closely
Whether you need a drawing or a plan. Check how products carry real dimensions, how facings and capacity follow from those dimensions, whether a layout can be validated against the space a fixture actually has, and whether the result can go to a retail partner as a PSA file rather than a picture.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram treats a planogram as data rather than artwork: dimensioned products on parameterized fixtures, facings and capacity that fall out of the geometry, your own sales figures bound to the positions, and PSA import and export for partners working in the established suites.

GoPlanogram as an OPENCatman alternative

Where OPENCatman is strong
Budget is the constraint and you want to start without raising a purchase order. OPENCatman runs in a browser, offers a genuinely usable free tier, and advertises a shared product library of more than two million items contributed by users across 30 countries, so much of what you need may already be modeled. That is a real saving on the most tedious part of the job.
What to compare closely
What that shared library means for your own data. OPENCatman's own site describes a product library that is shared among all application users, images and dimensions included, and presents that pooling as the main reason to use it; projects themselves it describes as private. If your product data is confidential, an unreleased SKU or pre-launch packaging especially, ask them directly what becomes visible to other users before you upload anything. Also check what the free and paid tiers cap as your catalog and team grow.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
Your catalog in GoPlanogram belongs to your site, managed by your own admins and kept separate from other customers, so an unreleased SKU stays yours. Past that it is built for doing this continuously: unlimited planograms and catalog size at every tier, store data and analytics, PSA import and export, and support from the developers.

GoPlanogram as an Apollo alternative

Apollo, SymphonyAI, previously IRI and Aldata

Where Apollo is strong
You are a large retailer or CPG planning space at chain scale, and you want optimization with real depth behind it: merchandising rules, assortment and performance criteria, and space constraints resolved across an estate of store-specific planograms. Apollo has been refining that for over twenty years and is embedded in a great deal of established category management practice.
What to compare closely
How a licence is sized for your actual team and what the rollout involves, since this is enterprise software bought through a sales process rather than a signup. If you are a supplier rather than a retailer, work out how much of the suite you would genuinely use, and how a finished planogram reaches a buyer who does not have it.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
If the job is building, proving, and sending planograms rather than optimizing an estate of thousands, you can do it in a browser today at a published price, and not by placing every facing by hand: fixture layouts arrange products for you, templates and dynamic assortments push one change across many planograms, and rules-based generation builds to the merchandising rules you define. PSA import and export keeps you trading files with partners still on Apollo or Blue Yonder.

GoPlanogram as a One Door alternative

Where One Door is strong
You run a large store network and the hard part is execution rather than design. One Door builds a digital model of each store, pushes location-specific merchandising to store teams on mobile, and checks compliance with image recognition. If getting the shelf built correctly in a thousand stores is your bottleneck, that is a genuinely different and strong product.
What to compare closely
Which end of the problem you are buying. One Door is aimed at retailers directing their own stores. If you are a brand producing planograms to pitch retailers you do not control, check how that workflow fits, and whether what you actually need is shelf-level space planning with PSA interchange rather than store execution tooling.
Why teams choose GoPlanogram
GoPlanogram is the design and analysis end: dimensioned products and fixtures, your own sales data bound to the positions, reporting that carries a space argument, and PSA import and export. It is what you use to decide and prove what the shelf should be, then hand that to a retail partner.

Switching without rebuilding

The reason most teams stay on a tool they have outgrown is the thought of rebuilding years of planograms. You do not have to.

  1. 1

    Import your PSA files

Bring in JDA / Blue Yonder PSA files as they are. One file often carries many planograms, and GoPlanogram reads the catalog data and per-item performance records inside it too, so sales and velocity come across with the layouts.

The GoPlanogram PSA file import dialog
  2. 2

Bring your catalog and store data

Upload product catalogs with images, dimensions, and custom attributes, then bind sales, inventory, and any custom metric to a planogram. Professional adds API access to keep it all in sync automatically.

Share of shelf against share of sales and turns, per subcategory. The breakdown that turns a layout into an argument a buyer can act on.
  3. 3

Keep sending what your buyers expect

Export finished planograms as PDF reports with images and charts, spreadsheets, images, or PSA files. Nobody downstream has to install anything or change how they work because you changed tools.

Questions we get during an evaluation

Can GoPlanogram open Blue Yonder (JDA) PSA files?
Yes. Import PSA files directly, including the catalog data and per-item performance records inside them, and a single file can carry many planograms. You can export back to PSA as well, so you are never locked in and your retail partners keep getting the format they expect.
Do I have to rebuild my planograms to switch?
No. Bring your existing PSA files, product catalogs, and store data across and pick up where you left off instead of starting from a blank canvas. Most teams are building in GoPlanogram the same week they start.
How does GoPlanogram pricing compare to other planogram software?
We publish it, which most of this market does not. Standard is $5,500 per year and includes five users, Professional is $9,000 per year and adds API access, single sign-on, and multiple catalogs, and individual licenses start at $1,995 per user per year. Unlimited planograms, unlimited catalog size, and support are included at every level.
Do my retail partners need GoPlanogram to open what I send them?
No. Send finished planograms as PDFs with images and charts, spreadsheets, plain images, or PSA files. Buyers open them with nothing installed. Live collaboration in the browser is there when you want it for your own team.
Is GoPlanogram a full category management suite?
It is a planogram and space planning tool with the analytics to justify a space decision: heatmaps, space-to-sales breakdowns, version comparison, and reporting across many planograms at once. It is not a demand forecasting or supply chain platform, and if that is what you need, the enterprise suites are the right call.
Who can see the product catalog I upload?
Only your own site. Catalogs are created and managed by your site administrators and kept separate from other customers, so unreleased SKUs, dimensions, and packaging artwork stay yours. Worth asking wherever you end up: some planogram tools pool uploaded product data into a library shared with all of their users.
How long does it take to get started?
There is no implementation project. Sign in, upload a catalog or import a PSA file, and build. Onboarding help and support are included, and they come from the engineers who build the software.
