Smart Import

Smart Import builds a planogram from a spreadsheet in any layout. GoPlanogram's AI reads the file, works out which products go where, and builds the plan for you to review.

Smart Import is in beta. To turn it on for your site, contact sales at [email protected].
A planogram spreadsheet, and the planogram Smart Import built from it.

Starting an Import

Navigate to File → Import → Smart Import.

The Smart Import dialog
  1. Choose your spreadsheet.
  2. If your site has more than one Catalog, choose the ones to match products against. Your open plan's catalogs are selected to start. Smart Import only reads them, and never changes them.
  3. Click Import.

The import runs in the background and usually takes a few minutes. You can keep working and open other plans meanwhile. A widget in the top-right corner shows what Smart Import is doing; click it for details, or to Cancel.

When it's ready
Closing or refreshing the tab stops the import.

Reviewing the Import

When the import is ready, click Review in the widget to see how the file was read. The review has up to three tabs. Questions and Problems only appear when there is something in them.

  • Info: a short summary of the planogram and anything worth knowing. Open Details for counts of racks, positions, and catalog matches.
    The Info tab
  • Questions: anything the file left unclear. Smart Import builds the plan on its best guess, which is already selected. Pick a different answer if it's wrong, or choose Other to type your own.

  • Problems: things to check, such as products that couldn't be matched to a catalog. Problems of the same kind are listed once.

Rebuilding

If you change any answer, the Open Planogram button becomes Rebuild. Smart Import builds the plan again with your answers, in the background like before. If it can't, your previous import is kept.

Opening the Planogram

Click Open Planogram to load the import. It replaces the planogram you have open, so you'll be offered the chance to save your changes first. If there are unanswered questions, Smart Import suggests reviewing them before you open.

Opening does not save the planogram. Save it as usual when you're happy with it. The import stays in the widget until you click Dismiss or Import Another, so you can open it again.

Products not in a catalog are temporary. Smart Import can place products your catalogs don't have, but they will be missing if you save the plan and open it again later. When this happens you'll see a list of them, which you can download and add to a Catalog.

Usage Limits

Smart Import shares your site's weekly Smart POG allowance, even if your site doesn't use Smart POG. Each import and rebuild counts toward it.
