Surfaces

Surfaces are typically top-level fixtures, though they can be attached to Racks.

Surfaces are typically used when Product Positions must account for depthwise placement -- for example, arranging folded clothes on a table fixture, or various frozen food arranged in a coffin case. If depth is not relevant, it’s usually better to use a Shelf.

Unlike other fixtures, Surfaces can be viewed Topdown (most common), or in Front View

A Surface can be created via Insert > Surface (via context or header menu). Pressing "S" creates a Surface at the cursor location.

Properties

A Surface's properties can be edited by double-clicking it, or via Right Click > Properties.

Surface properties dialog
Name and Description
Optional name / description for this Surface. Name is often useful for identifying where products go in Reports. These properties are how an item's Fixture and FixtureDescription will be reported if it is parented to this Surface.
SKU
An optional SKU / part number for this Surface, useful when the fixtures in a planogram themselves need to be ordered. An item parented to this Surface reports this value as its FixtureSKU.
Dimensions
Surface Width, Length (how far the Surface extends front to back), Height (of the Surface itself), and Floor Height (height from the floor), in inches or centimeters. You may enter values like 4' or 10m and GoPlanogram will convert automatically.
Grid Parameters
Parameters for an optional Surface grid overlay. If Enable Grid is checked, when in Topdown View, Product Positions will snap to this grid. Cell Width and Cell Height set the size of each grid cell, and Grid Opacity how strongly the grid is drawn (set it to 0 to snap to an invisible grid).
Fill
The color of the Surface itself.
Dropzone Parameters

Only relevant in Front View. The color (Dropzone Fill) and height (Dropzone Height) of the area above the Surface items must be dragged to so they are parented to the Surface.

Dropzone Visible toggles whether that area is drawn. Unchecking it hides the dropzone rather than removing it -- items are still parented by being dragged over that area.

Selectable and Movable
Whether this Surface can be selected and moved. Useful for locking fixtures in place while arranging products.

Editing Multiple Surfaces

If multiple Surfaces are selected, you can edit their Properties through the same dialog.

Use the Propagate checkbox buttons to declare a change to a property should be applied to all selected Surfaces.
