Aisles, Bays, and Racks
shelves Racks are the most common fixture type in GoPlanogram. A Rack can represent a Pegboard, Slatwall, or Shelving Only section, and can may have pegged widgets Product Positions or other fixtures parented to them, such as crop_16_9 Shelves or dry_cleaning Bars.
Racks can be nested within other fixtures (i.e. a Pegboard section nested inside a top-level Shelving Only Rack, or a Pegboard section on a dry_cleaningBar). A nested Rack is called a Sub-Rack. A top-level Rack is called a Bay.
A Sub-Rack can be affixed to a Bay, a dry_cleaning Bar, a crop_16_9 Shelf, or a inventory_2 Container. Create one directly with add_box Insert > table_view Sub-Rack, or convert an existing Bay with Right Click > Convert to Sub-Rack.
Aisles
Bays are arranged horizontally in curtains_closed Aisles.
An Aisle can be created via add_box Insert > curtains_closed Aisle (either by the context or header menu). Pressing "R" creates an Aisle with a single Bay at the cursor location. An Aisle can be dragged onto another to combine them.
Bays can be Added, Removed, chevron_leftchevron_right Swapped with other Bays, or Detached using the buttons that appear on a selected Bay.
The same operations are available from the keyboard on a selected Bay:
- 1: Duplicate the Bay and add it to the Aisle on the left
- 3: Duplicate the Bay and add it to the Aisle on the right
- ← / →: Swap the Bay with its neighbor to the left or right
A Bay's context menu adds a few more operations under its Bay submenu:
- Clear Bay deletes every widgets Position on the Bay, including those on Shelves, Bars, Containers, and Sub-Racks parented to it. The fixtures themselves are left in place.
- Space Shelves Evenly redistributes the crop_16_9 Shelves on the Bay so the vertical gaps between them are equal.
- Delete Aisle removes the entire Aisle this Bay belongs to, not just the Bay.
New fixtures can also be added straight onto a Bay with Right Click > add_box Insert, which offers crop_16_9 Shelf, table_view Sub-Rack, and dry_cleaning Bar.
When an Aisle is created, you may specify the Rack Properties for each Bay. These can be changed at any time, and each Bay may specify its own unique properties.
Properties
A Rack's properties can be edited by double-clicking the Rack, or via Right Click > info Properties.
When editing a Rack's properties, if it is a Bay, you can use the content_copy checkbox buttons beside inputs to update those properties for all Bays in the Aisle. If you want all changes to be applied to all Aisle Bays, check the Apply Changes to All Bays checkbox.
Ideal for peggable items on hooks. Supports shelving.
Ideal for hanging items such as clothing, though hooks can also be used. Supports shelving.
Ideal for hanging items within a grid. Supports shelving.
Only supports shelving; no pegged items allowed. Items dragged over this rack snap to the nearest shelf.
How far a sub-rack sticks out from its parent fixture (e.g., distance from a dry_cleaning Bar or Bay it is affixed to)
The Hook Length input allows you to specify the default hook length for items affixed to this Rack.
If the phishing checkbox is checked, you can instead specify an exact default Hook for items on this Rack.
Controls the Rack grid layout. Relevant for Pegboard, Wirerack, and Slatwall racks. Cell Width and Cell Height determine the spacing between pegholes and wires; on a Slatwall the vertical input is labeled Slat Height and is the only grid dimension used.
Grid Offset X and Grid Offset Y determine where the grid begins relative to the rack's top-left corner, and Grid Opacity how strongly the grid is drawn. All values are in inches/cm. These are rarely changed.
Show Standards toggles Rack standards/uprights visibility. Standards Width and Standards Color control their appearance, and Standards Offset where the first standard begins relative to the left side of the Rack.
Notch Increment is the vertical increment Shelves snap to along the
standards, defaulting to Cell Height. Notch Offset shifts the numbering used when reporting a Shelf's ShelfNotch. Both are rarely changed.
Open Frame renders the Rack as open industrial shelving, the sort used in warehouses and home improvement stores. In 3D it drops the back panel and turns the standards into four full-depth corner posts, cross braced down each side. In 2D it drops the panel outline.
This changes appearance only -- products snap exactly as the Rack's Type dictates. It is available on Shelving Only Racks with Show Standards checked, since the uprights are the whole fixture once the panel is gone. An Open Frame has no panel to paint, so its Background is ignored while it is on.
If checked, this Bay will have a Base Deck -- a crop_16_9 Shelf fixed at the base of the Rack. Use the content_copy checkbox beside it, or Apply Changes to All Bays, to give every Bay in the Aisle one.
A Base Deck can be selected and have its properties edited like any other Shelf, but it stays anchored to the base of its Rack -- it has no Width or Selectable and Movable property of its own.
