Shelves

Shelves are fixtures that attach to Racks and hold items. Typically, these are Product Positions, though they could also be Container fixtures, Sub-Racks, or arbitrary item Groups

A Shelf can be created via Insert > Shelf (via context or header menu). Pressing "E" creates a Shelf at the cursor location.

If a Shelf is dragged over a Rack and is at least as wide, it will snap to the Rack.

Shelf Actions

A Shelf's context menu offers a few actions beyond Properties:

Toggle Movable flips the Shelf's Selectable and Movable property without opening the Properties dialog. The middle mouse button does the same thing for whichever fixture is under the cursor.
Mirror Contents reverses the left-to-right order of everything on the Shelf, keeping the items themselves unchanged.
Clear Shelf deletes every Position on the Shelf, including those inside sub-fixtures parented to it. The fixtures themselves are left in place.

Properties

A Shelf's properties can be edited by double-clicking it, or via Right Click > Properties.

Name and Description

Optional name / description for this Shelf. Name is often useful for identifying where products go in Reports. These properties are how an item's Fixture and FixtureDescription will be reported if it is parented to this Shelf.

SKU

An optional SKU / part number for this Shelf, useful when the fixtures in a planogram themselves need to be ordered. An item parented to this Shelf reports this value as its FixtureSKU.

Layout

How items on the Shelf are automatically laid out. Shelves support None, Left, Right, Even, Center, and Segmented layouts. See the Fixture Layouts page for a full description of each.

For some layouts, Spacing defines the horizontal space left between each item when its content is laid out. For Segmented layouts, Segments defines how many equal divisions the Shelf is broken into.

Dimensions

Shelf Width, Height, and Depth, in inches or centimeters. You may enter values like 4' or 10m and GoPlanogram will convert automatically.

Slant / Dropzone

The height of the Slant (if the Slanted checkbox is checked) or Dropzone. This is the area over which items must be dragged to be parented to the Shelf.

Fence Properties

Both Shelves and Containers may have a Fence if the Has Fence checkbox is checked.

This fence acts as a guard that appears in front of items. Its style, color, opacity, and height can be edited.

Colors

Fill is the color of the Shelf itself, Text the color of its text, and Dropzone Fill the color of its dropzone.

Some sites can also give a Shelf an image Fill instead of a color. When that is enabled, a Color / Image toggle appears above the Fill input. A chosen image tiles across the Shelf by default; check Stretch to have it fill the Shelf instead. Contact your site administrator if you need this enabled.

Shelf Visible

Toggles visibility of the Shelf itself. Typically this is left on. Useful for representing an invisible support that products should still sit on.

Dropzone Visible

Toggles visibility of the Shelf's dropzone. Unchecking it hides the dropzone rather than removing it -- items are still parented by being dragged over that area.

Selectable and Movable

Whether this Shelf can be selected and moved. Useful for locking fixtures in place while arranging products. Not available on a Base Deck, which is always fixed to the base of its Rack.

Tiered

If checked, this Shelf's Capacity only fills up to the next Shelf above it, rather than extending indefinitely. Useful for stationery and gift card displays, where shelves overlap vertically.

Can Combine

If checked, if this Shelf is vertically aligned with other Shelves of the same Layout, they will be treated as one, and the layout will account for the entire length of all Shelves.

Editing Multiple Shelves

If multiple Shelves are selected, you can edit their Properties through the same dialog.

Use the Propagate checkbox buttons to declare a change to a property should be applied to all selected Shelves.

The Propagate checkbox is checked for Fill, but not Height. Both Shelves have their fill changed -- only Shelf 1 has its Height changed

Dragging Over Bays

When multiple dragging Shelves over Bays, they will all snap to the Bay the cursor is over.

For each dragging Shelf to snap to the Bay it is dragged over instead, , hold the Alt key while dragging.
