Store Plans
Store Plans are a Filesystem type that arranges several Plan files in a single topdown floor layout, each placed at its own location and angle. This makes it possible to view, walk through in 3d_rotation 3D, and report on an entire store at once, rather than one planogram at a time.
What a Store Plan Contains
A Store Plan does not contain any fixtures or products of its own. For each Plan placed in it, the Store Plan stores only a reference to that Plan file plus a location and an angle. The fixtures you see are read from the referenced Plans every time the Store Plan is opened.
The practical consequence is worth remembering: editing a Plan changes every Store Plan that uses it. This is usually what you want -- fix a shelf once and every store layout that includes it is corrected -- but it also means a Plan is never "private" to one Store Plan. See Saving and Copying for how GoPlanogram warns you before a save affects other files, and for how to make an independent copy when you need one.
Each placed Plan is called a square_foot Section. A Store Plan may also contain other Store Plans as sections, so a large site can be assembled from smaller, reusable layouts. See Sections and Layout.
Store Plans vs. Topdown View
Topdown View arranges the fixtures within a single Plan relative to one another. It is the right tool for a mid-sized space of related fixtures -- a clothing rack wall with a few complementary tables in front of it, for example.
A Store Plan arranges whole Plan files relative to one another. Reach for it when the space is larger than one planogram, when the same planogram repeats in several places on the floor, or when different people own different areas of the store. As a rule of thumb: if you would want to open the piece on its own and merchandise it, it should be its own Plan, positioned in a Store Plan.
Creating a Store Plan
A Store Plan is created with File > New > Store Plan, or with Ctrl + L. After choosing a Folder location and a name, an empty Store Plan opens and GoPlanogram switches into Store Plan mode.
An existing Store Plan is opened the same way as any other file, via File > Open. See Opening and Filtering.
Store Plan Mode
While a Store Plan is open, the canvas shows sections rather than individual fixtures, and most of the planogram editing tools are unavailable -- you cannot add a shelf or place a product into a Store Plan directly. To change what is inside a section, open its underlying Plan (see Sections and Layout).
The Store Plan Panel
The Store Plan panel opens automatically with a Store Plan, and can be reopened from View > Store Plan Info. Its header shows the current Store Plan's name, a View in Filesystem button, and an Add Plans button.
The panel has two tabs:
- curtains_closed Current Plans -- a searchable tree of every Plan in the Store Plan, including those inside nested Store Plans. Clicking an entry opens that Plan. This tab also holds the Section Names checkbox, which toggles the name labels drawn over each section on the canvas.
- Schematic -- the floorplan image drawn beneath the sections. See Floorplan Schematic.
Where to Next
- Sections and Layout -- adding, moving, rotating and nesting Plans.
- Floorplan Schematic -- placing a scaled floorplan image underneath.
- Analysis and 3D -- cameras, heatmaps, labels, Insights and reports across a whole store.
- Saving and Copying -- versions, shallow and deep copies, read-only access and Projects.
